Description | Create your own pizza or stromboli from scratch! Surprisingly simple but impressive, especially for the bachelor pad. |
Pizza Dough
- 2 packages yeast
- 5 cups flour
- 2 Tablespoons oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 cups water
Tomato Sauce
- 1 can of tomato sauce
- dash of pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano
- 1 Tablespoon oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Toppings
- Mozzarella
- Pepperoni
- etc...
Combine all ingredients for pizza dough in large mixing bowl. Stir 20 times with a wooden spoon. If necessary, add more flour or water until dough is easy to handle. Cover and let rise for 1 hour in a warm (80() place, or refrigerate overnight. Dough should approximately double.
Divide dough into desired sizes and flatten onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Dough should be about 1/4" thick. Roll up edges.
Combine tomato sauce ingredients and spread evenly over dough. Put on Mozzarella cheese and other toppings as desired. Bake at 425( for about 15 minutes until inside of crust is no longer doughy.
You can use pizza dough to make stromboli (page 80), calzones, or rolls. The dough freezes well before rising; just take it out the night before use and place in the refrigerator.
Instead of the tomato sauce above, you can use store-bought sauce, the Marinara recipe on page 72, or anything else that comes to mind. Be creative!
